im pretty new at collection t205's got my first 5 this month. i have done a bit of reasearch but 1 month makes a noob not an expert, lol.

Whats the deal with John Lobert card? In the becket guide it says Hans Lobert and on all the online check lists it also says hans, but on the card its john. Juessing its a nick name here but just was interested.

His given name was John Lobert...but as with several other players of that time (most notably his teammate, John Wagner) he earned the nickname "Hans" because of his German ancestry.

great thanks josh - i thought so - and yea i did come across another guy or 2 with the same issue.

I think John is Johan in German. So I figure Hans is short for Johan.

Do yourself a favor and track down the Glory of their Times CD set, which is available at many public libraries. Their is a delightful interview with Lobert...interesting to hear about the times and players in the man's own words.
