T205 McGraw Printers Scrap w/overprint

1 Attachment(s)
T205 printers scrap card of John McGraw, blank back with no gold applied to the borders and has an inverted blue print pass of another Giant's player Otis Crandall. The card has better color than the scan, quite abit more bold on the yellow border and the orange background.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Asking $2,200, but will listen to reasonable offers. When T205 errors become in vogue as the the T206 errors, this will be a bargain.

My Reulbach was similar. To me, this is just more evidence that the T205 sheets were printed with yellow ink borders, then the gold was overlaid - I think the ones that look like they have green ink borders or just cases where the gold has been worn off, but had interacted with the yellow to create a green look. But I'm always happy to find out that I'm wrong, because it means someone's taught me something.

Great card.

Curious if the card has been submitted. Those borders are also the exact same color as t205 reprints. Is there a good scan of the back available? Hearing that a similar reulbach exists is a good sign. Will the card be at the Philly show?

I submitted it to myself, it was free, the card is 100% legit. As Scott pointed out above this is what a T205 looks like without the gold border applied.

It won't be at Philly, it'll be in the same album it has resided for the last 10 years.

I could send it to SGC and get an AUT but I don't think that will matter to any knowledgable buyer.

It is real in my opinion. I think Scott showed me this years ago and has had it since then. It is the right stock, thickness, color and contrast. The reprints with yellow borders are on newer, white stock with a glossy coating. This has none of that characteristic.

Leon, nice historical artifact giving clues to the T205 printing process you picked up.

Thanks Peter. I don't mind paying for neat stuff. Never have minded. Scott drives a hard bargain but he is fair.
