Would this be considered printer scrap?

There is NO paperloss on front or back. I looked at the card with a loop today and it is just blank on back with little printing no signs of printing that is worn or removed...Does anyone have the thread on the t213-2 red dye cards that was done many years back?? Thank you in advance for any advice.

this is what the back should look like and no that is not printers scrap

I would say that it is not based on a combination of what I look for in scraps, that being evidence of hand cut edges AND some sort of print anomaly..missing, different or offset colours or blank/miscut/upside down back. There are examples that don't fit into this pattern however I do not think your Cobb classifies as such.

kind of looks like something spilled on it. Terpentine / paint remover / something along those lines.

+1 ...almost no doubt. Not sure what, but some chemical that caused great bodily harm.

Here is a Cree from what I call the T213-2 purple dye cards. There are many of these with the same characteristics. There was a thread about these cards many years ago on whatever the previous incarnation of this board was. I don't know if those threads are still on here. From what I remember, no consensus or conclusions were drawn.

They are odd because the backs are smooth with no paper-loss.

I have three of these Coupons with the purple spill on them. Definitely not scrap, just something that spilled on them as far as I can tell. I sent a Chase (blue portrait I think) to a board member for his Chase player collection a while back. Maybe he can post an image of it.

Thanks.

Everyone tries to find a new holy grail version lol, my T205 gold border is white, is that rare?

Nah, love seeing all these cards, esp yours Chris

I don't think it's a scrap. Just has lots of wear.

Keep in mind that T213-2 already have chemicals applied to the fronts to give them a glossy look, like this Murphy. Whatever chemical splashed on these had interesting effects, even if unintended.

Jmanos had listed his card as a "beater" in bst and I just wanted to clarify that in my opinion it is a 'purple dye' and I'd rather have a purple dye T213-2 than a beater. SGC graded one of these Elberfeld's as AUT and it is/was on ebay for a psa 2 price. I don't think these are the next Wilhelm suffer'ed or anything and I would not pay above psa/sgc 10 price, but, there are alot of them that show up for sale.

Nasty... Just make you wonder who's DNA would be stuck in that card... :p

Is there a premium for "printers scrap" material?

mrvster 02-07-2013 02:40 PM

I see "scrap" in a thread my heart skips a beat:o.....usually a false alarm like this.....:)....I think I may have a problem!:D

Didn't mean to fan the flames...I never considered this to be scrap...maybe crap, but not scrap! :)

Seriously, Andy gave me this card for my collection and, appearance aside, I thought that was pretty damn nice of him...

Have a great week everybody...Matt

purple-dye Cobb

I think the Cobb in the first post is the same one that was in the last Clean Sweep in a SGC 10 holder. Last I saw, it was over $260. Did not see the final price.
