T207 Freaks
2 Attachment(s)
I had an original idea just now, why not find cards from an old set that had some sort of problem, either on front or back. Randomly, I chose the T207 set and just happened to have this front miscut. I find it odd that the back says nothing about him living to 107 years old!

I think I have shown these before

Or am I just missing what your trying to say? |

This may have been the communication problem, set your sarcasm meter to "high", then see if it doesn't make more sense. Everything I wrote at the top was a lie, btw. Definitely wasn't an original idea, or a random set on my part. I wrote in the T205 freaks post that I found this card while looking for a T205 and decided right then to make a post about T207's |
Interesting stuff. Can you imagine if you were a kid, and came upon a pile of say, 100 T205, T206 and T207 cards, representing all the various 'freak' examples we've seen posted here.
As a kid, wouldn't you just throw most of them away? |

I still have that one. Steve B |

And apologies for getting off topic for the thread.
My one T207 is both normal and in horrible condition. I haven't scaned it yet, but it might be in the running for worst T207. Steve B |
An oddity

OK, maybe not a freak, but definitely one that makes you go ... huh?
This card was the topic of some debate when the Obak full sheet was auctioned having both horizontal and vertical images - see http://sep10.hugginsandscott.com/pl/...ncut_sheet.jpg The Adams definitely shows the same characteristics. |
The horizontal/vertical layout may be the reason that a lot of t207's are cut short top to bottom but are 100% original, they were the horizontal cards on the layout.?? They would have had to cut vertically first and then cut the remaining horizontals apart, which could also be the reason for the number of diagonal top and bottom cuts on some of the shorter cards.
Just a thought. |
Cuts
I think you're dead on, Scott.
There are a variety of cards you find with MC and OC on the other axis, or more MC/OC than other cards. Needing to make those cuts would seem to drive more process failures (so to speak) on that set of cards. -- Mike |

It doesn't look trimmed to me.

I agree Scott, they would have found the trash can. Flash forward 90 odd years and I still constantly replace miscut T207s with nicely cut ones. I guess I am one of those who prefers aesthetically pleasing cards instead of freak miscuts. I think it's great that there are collectors who collect miscut cards, I'm just in the minority I guess :( |

Very interesting card Mike and I think you are on to something. At first glance I thought maybe that was the sole horizontal card next to it, twice on the sheet, but it is obvious that your surmise is the correct one, that the bottom row was printed horizontally as opposed to the vertical remainder. |

Here's a neat T207. Never seen a ghost this dark in T207.

If a T207 blank back falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, will it make a sound?
