Gehrig Autograph Help

2 Attachment(s)
So I had the opportunity to get this one in trade back in August, from someone who I have done business with in the past. I took some photos ran it by a few people back then who couldn't render either way... I took a better look and new photos with a better cameral today... and also used a jewelers loop to take a better look...the paper is old and the signature appears to be in steel tip ink... the reverse of the paper has been packed with some type of linen like material (my framer tells me they used to use this back in the day to preserver delicate documents). this makes sense given there are some seperations in the paper...

The thing that spooks me about this is that the L & G seem to be pretty far apart (but I have found some exemplars on ebay & HA that are similar)... The other thing is the incomplete G that loops up off of the G... looks like the pen was having issues, and I can see some light depressions under magnification (there is and incomplete stroke in the L as well)... Its as if the pen lifted off the paper or the resevoir was having trouble getting ink...

In any case, I am considering this one again as I am looking to move my Gehrig Ball... I'd like to get thoughts from some of the folks here on the board... I realize that there is a wealth of experience...

Thanks in advance for the help...

Best Regards,
David
