Thoughts on Anson Yum Yum card

I was checking out ebay and came across this listing. Was wondering what the overall opinion of this card is?? Real or Fake??

Card looks fine, it is just in bad shape and doesn't actually picture Cap Anson, it is Ned Williamson

Card appears to be OK (with the caveat that you can't tell without looking at it in person). However, my understanding is that in a case of a 19th century card where the name and the photo are in disagreement, the photo determines the identity of the card. In this case that would imply that this is not an Anson card. This rule is used extensively in the Old Judge set, where misidentifications of players on cards is not that uncommon.

The seller says it isn't Anson in the description, but claims it is Abner Dalyrmple.

"...substitution of a look-alike in place of Anson, another well-known White Stocking player named Abner Dalyrmple..."

I don't know either way, but I thought I would point that out.

Seller took their description right from a Mile High listing

My thoughts on Anson Yum Yum...

... It's a shame it's not him.

I guess when you don't know what you have it is "safer" to take the information from a reputable auction.

So is there debate on who is actually sitting there or was it a known mistake on Mile High's end by identifying the wrong player?

100% authentic as seller is a VERY advanced collector in Canada.....just sold a full set of Scraps Detroit in the last few weeks too. And, no, it's not Anson.....

z28jd is correct - it is Ned Williamson.
