Ted Williams "Speed Ball" value?
3 Attachment(s)
I had a Ted Williams Speedball given to me, the previous owner has had it for 50 years, its signed, any idea on the value?

Did I say something wrong??

No idea on value (I'd guess a small premium over a newer signed ball) but it sure looks nice!

Thanks for the reply, I agree it is very very cool and in great shape, I'm trying to research the "speed ball". I'm curious about when they came out and why they were put out. Those are pretty unique and specific categories, I'll let you know if I run across anything
Thanks again! |
The Ted Williams "Speed Ball" (model A1282) was listed in the 1959 Wilson catalog along with the Ted Williams "Autograph League" (model A1090) ball. Both were a whopping $1.35 (vs. an official PCL ball at $3.25). Sounds to me like a simple case of player endorsement. Harvey Kuenn had All-Star and Autograph League balls that year as well. I don't know if the Ted Williams balls were offered in other years as well, but I would suspect so.

Thanks for the info! It's very interesting to find out more and more about it.

Speed ball signature verification
Can someone help me or point me in the right direction to find out if the signature is authentic?
