The joy of collecting (or how a T210 brightened up a dismal fortnight)

It has been a devastating couple of weeks, both for my fellow New Yorkers and myself, as the storm took a terrible toll and continues to cause misery. The one bright spot--I found a card that I never knew existed. It is an early Erskine Mayer card, one that was not even listed in this archived thread:

I don't have access to PSA or SGC populations reports, but I think it is a pretty scarce card.

Though this card will never bring back those things that were lost two weeks ago, this was a real bright spot in an otherwise dismal couple of weeks. Just thinking about what a great hobby this is.....

Hope things get better for you soon, Brian. Collecting can sure brighten a day; one which many NY'ers desperately could use. Nice card. I have no idea on that particular card but series 7 seem to be tough.

Brian, nice card. Almost all of those late series T210's have very low pops. Lemke's 2006 SCD has it listed under T210 series 7 East Carolina League on page 1620. I like to refer to the 2006 book because it has an expanded list of the Old Judges. Lots of good information.

Hang in there on the storm. Ike went through here about five years ago and some people were without power for 5 weeks. Getting gas was like something from a Mad Max movie.

wishing you all the best as you continue to navigate through the aftermath
of the storms You are so right about this hobby brightening days when we least expect it. I have a 210 ser.2 of smith catching framed for my wall and it is one of my favs.

Thanks for the encouraging words, guys.
Actually, this was my second T210 after Levy, which is more common.
Gotta love the poses on these cards--these guys appeared to have a lot of character.

Brian,
Nice pickup on the Mayer card. FYI, everyone now has free access to the PSA pop report - here's the link to PSA's pop report for the T210-7 cards, which shows that PSA has not graded any Mayer cards: http://www.psacard.com/pop/Detail.aspx?c=81317

Val, thanks for the link to the PSA pop report.
That is a nice card, Jason (saw that one but did not bid).

Wish I had picked up that T210 Cohen that I saw a few months ago. Hopefully another will surface soon.
