Hit card 100 on my T206 set
Big day for me and thought I would share my story with the hobby :)
I collected till the early 90's and fell out of the card scene till I stumbled back in 2007. I was poking through my old binders of phillies team sets and decided to poke on ebay. This rejuvenated my interest again, and while the modern parallels, colors and such got a little fatiguing....the phillies were about to go on a wild ride for a few years and I jumped on. During this time I decided to build vintage phillies sets. My collection from when I was younger included all team sets from 1973 till 1994. A few 205 and 207's aside, I soon focused on my T206 set... My first T206 was Otto Knabe purchased on 11/5/2009 http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f8...pscb5fa1ee.jpg And today brought number 100 on 10/18/2012, Dummy Taylor bought from this very board http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f8...017_234558.jpg A few stats: Every card in my set is sgc 40. 6 of these I graded myself, 94 I received slabbed. Most cards bought in one day: 3/8/2011 I bought 13 cards Most spent on one card: 8/25/2011 I spent 828 on a Cobb red portrait Least spent on one card: 8/1/2011 I spent 21 on an Ira Thomas Cards that were girts: Seven cards were Christmas/birthday presents First team completed: Columbus on 3/4/2011 Not sure how far I'll get. Have a Matty coming in and in the next year I plan to add at least one back variation into my collection with my new cards. As of now I only have Piedmont, caporal, polar bear and sovereign specimens. Thanks to those here that have helped and particularly to those that have helped with information as this website is unmatched in that facet. Here's to 200! http://www.serellan.com/forums/publi...ult/cheers.gif |
Sounds like you are having a blast. Enjoy.

Awesome story, I think SGC 40 is the sweet spot for eye appeal/cost when going for the whole set.

Awesome accomplishment Terry, great job !!! :)
Sincerely, Clayton |
Congrats! Keep it up.

Congrats! That's an awesome accomplishment. I enjoyed your record-keeping as well. I'm a PSA 3 guy. My first was a Mordicai Brown back in 2009, and I'm not even close to 100.
Have fun getting to 200 and beyond!! Rich |
Nice job. Cards in vg condition are indeed a sweet spot. One of my favorite type grades for my cards. They are cost effective, relatively speaking, and show well.
