Goodwin Auction Wins
Anyone do any good? I won one card, but was outbid on several.
|
what card did you win?
|
Sorry - I should have been more specific. I won the M116 Plank...
http://packgeek.files.wordpress.com/...0/plank_1.jpeg I'd been watching a PSA 7 on ebay with a BIN for $2100, so I figured I should at least take a stab at this one. I was the under bidder on the Oxford Ruth and the t206 Matty American Beauty. Did you reel any in, Jeff? |
Is it just me or does ~$34k seem a tad much for the T206 PSA 8 Beckley?
If I were a T206 collector, I'd take this one from Legendary and a new Buick. |

I was curious about that same card. I don't know a lot about the t206 set, but that seemed like an extremely strong price. |

Nothing for me, I think that Plank belonged to a board member, nice win.

No wins for me - led on the Mendelsohn Cobb until about midnight and then got blown away - $19,000 + is a really strong price for that card.
|
I was in on the Pinkerton Jennings until it broke $4k, then I had to bow out. Congrats to whoever won it.
|
That's a really nice price, Chris. Most of the Ruths that have sold have not come close to that..........

I love my Enclave! |

Cobb is tougher to find than Ruth (who is probably the easiest card to find in the set) but 19k is still an amazing price, and like you said more than the Ruth's get usually. Could have been a couple of Cobb collectors battling it out as well. |
Were these distributed as mail-in offers, etc. similar to the W600's where it would make sense that the most popular players of the era would have many more surviving examples today than the run-of-the-mill players who might not have been requested nearly as much?

Good to know, I have never seen a Jackson either, didn't even know that one existed.........

Update on M-101-6 Felix Mendelsohn set
This is not a reply to anyone. I just registered, and wanted to post an update on the M-101-6 1917-1920 Mendelsohn set. The "Pep" Young card listed in the guide is not Ross "Pep" Young who played OF/2B for the NY Giants from 1917 to 1926; it is actually a photograph of Ralph Young, second baseman for the Detroit Tigers from 1915 to 1921. It might be his only Detroit card, but I am not sure about this. This is a great set with many of the photographs offering unique poses of the players. (i.e. the Cobb card) Sincerely, Tony McLaughlin

Does anyone know if a Joe Jackson Mendelsohn card exists?
If so, can someone post a picture? I would love to see it. Tony |

Wow, can't imagine what that would sell for. And how did this lot go so cheaply??? http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...ntoryid=115943 |
I was turned off by the lot containing the f and m cobb because there were a few cards suspected of being trimmed including an e97 keeler...which I believe graded vg or ex! Total score!!!!!

I thought the 1914 CJ Bresnahan no# would go a tad higher... |
I picked up the T206 Elberfeld, Washington.

sorry Jeff, I picked up the oxford Ruth.....but I'd been waiting nearly 5 years for the right example to meet the coincidence of available funds :)
