I watched it with my dad and we both agreed it was an unbelievable waste of time. You didn't miss much, they could've made it a 30 min show but dragged it out for 90 minutes

Forgot to mention that not only is the show bad, but it ends up being a 90 min infomercial for the book the guy wrote. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that doesn't have insomnia

Agreed. Very disappointed in the show. Tons of hype and zero delivery.

It is a great book poorly very adapted to film.

Well I would recommend watching the book for 90 minutes if you have the choice

I thought the book was great, sorry to hear the DVD was not.

I thought Tommy Holmes had it as I was reading the book. On page 147 it states he had an extensive collection of baseball cards and memorabilia and that he was ahead of his time collecting items. I thought maybe he went and got the ball from Helen that day since she couldn't be seen with it. Maybe he offered her some money and told her he would mention her in the paper but not use her real name as a favor to her ( which he did). If he was a collector, he would have definitely went to the left field area and try to get that ball !!

Does anyone know what happened to Tommy Holmes collection after he died ? As a researcher for the book I would have pursued this avenue. Would be curious if a ball was in that collection ?

+1. I initially figured that someone had come up with a ball that they would attempt to pass off as THE ball at auction in the future, and the show was their attempt to bolster its credibility. I thought to myself, "whoa, I hope someone doesn't get stuck paying big bucks for something that amounts to nothing more than a good story--turns out I was the one who paid (in my time expended watching the show) for the "good story."

Best regards, guys,

Larry
