are unopened wax packs safe to buy or??

Hi, I'm an old-old-old man (I was born before the t-206 players) but am just getting into BB card collecting. I want to buy some unopened 1970's wax packs but how do I know if they werent opened, any goodies replaced, & glued shut again. Is this a problem in the hobby? Thanks. This is a serious question.

Yes. What you suspect may happen has happened.

If you check around you will find a few good sellers of wax packs. I have no clue on how to tell if they have been opened and resealed.

I second BBC Exchange. They are the closest thing to a guarantee in that part of the hobby. I have friends who collect unopened packs and sometimes they leave them untouched in the BBCE shipped box for resell purposes.

The problem is when you look at 1970s cards, it is almost inconceivable that on the long view you will not just be better off buying the cards you want.

Wow, thanks for the link. Although I have a ton of BB card sites marked, I never heard of this onel Looks great. Greg

What if they made a mistake and sent you the wrong pack - how would you know if you don't open the box?

eBay listing: "An unopened pack in an unopened BBCE box......"

There was a really good thread some years ago about wax pack fraud. Couldn't find it but these should help.

I agree, totally. Maybe the O/P is collecting "semi-vintage" gum?:D
