1989 Topps Gregg Jefferies Blank Back
I'm a pre-war card collector; specifically T206. While going through my old cards I found a 1989 Topps Gregg Jefferies Future Stars rookie with a totally blank back. Is it worth anything? Or should i just pitch it (with the rest of my late 80's worthless cards)? Thanks for any input!!

It's not going to be on the same level of a blank back T206, but that probably goes without saying.
My guess is it would be worth somewhere in the $1-$5 range. I wouldn't just chuck it if you don't want it. Try posting it in the live auctions section or mail it to me. :) |
For the most part it's worthless. Although you may be able to get a buck or two, if you're willing to throw it on the bay and let it sit...It's probably not worth the hassle though.
Personally, I like the blank/wrong back/front "errors", but usually only in the case of notable rookie cards.. A Jeffries collector would gladly take it off your hands.. |
Blank Backs
In older Topps sets, blank backs can be errors or proofs. Sometimes blank back proofs can be worth a lot, like the 67 Maris as a Yankee blank back proof or the 77 Jackson as an Oriole blank back proof, or the 84 Encased ( head all in the box), blank backed proofs, or the 85 Mini blank back proofs. In general, proof cards with some authenticity, say from Topps vault do bring a premium, as opposed to blank back errors, which normally do not
But agree with David and others that typically newer blank back cards, or wrong back cards, bring very little if any premiums, unless it is in an older set and involves a major star http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1337633306 |
A Greg Jefferies player collector or Mets collector would probably buy it.
I'd stick it on ebay with a BIN of $4.95 (or something close) and free shipping and it will eventually sell. I buy odd St. Louis Cardinal cards like that as long as they are not budget busters. |
Thanks so much guys! Appreciate the feedback!!

If you decide to pitch it, I'll throw you a couple of bucks for it. That was my absolute favorite card when I was busting wax as a 12 year old back in '89. I still think it's a great looking card and don't own a blank back.
