Considering its over now, what did you guys think about this. I'm guessing a member here won it? Thought about bidding on it, but cabinets arn't my area. Was the price cheap or high?

I think it was a good deal if it was a period peice.

I don't believe it is an original peice but I could be wrong.

It's not a real photo. I think that's a problem.

I agree with Leon..."lithoed" on cardboard does not sound period to me.

I have a copy of the original but this one looks a little different. It has much bigger borders and has square corners. Mine has rounded corners. Otherwise, the central areas are the same. I think it is a great piece. Leon is right, it is not a photo, but it still shows a great early team.

It's good to see that on that particular auction it was noted as circa 1900's. On the close-up from the last few images you can see a symmetrical dot pattern which to me signals that it's a reprint and I don't think it's accurate that the ebay auction references it as 'litho'd.' This is just my opinion but having purchase a few reprints in my collection :( they look similar.

That dot pattern is a halftone printing process, I think. If you look at a litho card under a loupe you'll see the same thing.

There is a beautiful, original example in the old judge book, is that yours Jay? :)

Matt- yes, the copy in the book, which was printed using the halftone process, is mine. 1879 would have been a little early for a halftone, but certainly possible. I think the process was first used in the early 1870s.

Anyone know who the buyer is?

That's a real nice piece Jay!

I'm shocked that it actually took 3 minutes from the end of the auction before someone posted this. I was expecting to see it within about 15 seconds, I know that everyone on this board was all over this item.............
