Collecting - The Old Fashion Way

I just completed a trade with a great hobbyist by the name of Mark Lamoureux. We've had some terrific phone conversations and when I mentioned I had an older Chicago Bears jersey to trade, he sounded interested. I shipped the jersey to him for his inspection and in return, he sent me the items you see below. The best part about meeting Mark is the fact he's been collecting jerseys since the 1970's and he remembers the way it used to be. Transactions were completed more by trading than buying. It's so refreshing to complete a deal without having to worry about holograms, C of A's, photo matching, 3rd party authentication and the like. Mark is part of that "throwback group" to when honesty and integrity are part of every transaction. (Obviously, because we now have all of the aforementioned items many people now require before buying an item, honesty and integrity isn't high on the list of some dealers today.)

Below is a Fort Myers Sun Sox Senior League (SPBA) set of jerseys, including a batting practice jersey (#17 Landestoy), a road jersey, (#18 White) and a complete home uniform of #35 Mike Ramsey - including stirrups and sanitary socks! Also shown is a game used batting helmet, a second season game baseball, assorted game tickets, a laundry bag, scorecard, and decal.

I remember the card set that was put out for the senior league (I kinda remember it was done by Pacific Trading Cards but I am not totally sure) and I sent a few out to get autographed. It was always kinda weird to see the retired guys playing in the odd looking uniforms but I remember thinking it would be cool to see these guys play. From what I heard it was typically like a glorified old timers game each time they played. I dont know how competetive it really was.

Great uniform set! Those are uni's you do not see very often.
