One of THOSE eBAY days

Just to vent, I had bids on 8 different T-206s, two T-212s, 4 W517s, 2 T205 and the 1958 All-Star managers card for a set that I am closing in on (469 cards in the house). Yup, you guessed it...almost. I won the 58 and two of the W517s. Arrrrgh, one of those days........:D

Hang in there Mike.

It happens to all of us.

Happens to me all the time and I feel that I can be an aggressive bidder if I really want something for my collection.

For me, most of the time when I get outbid, another example comes around and I get it for less than the last one sold for.

It appears to be a busy night on Ebay. I got shut out tonight, but I am a patient person. :)

Definatley harsh day for 33 Goudeys, I was watching listings that went higher than normal

Tough days for E121-80 snipers also. all cards are going for $200.00 plus range. nice cards but not worth that much $$$.

I saw the same thing and couldn't believe the realized prices.

Sundays are for amateurs

It seems that Sundays ar the worse day of the week for eBay. The same way that bar rooms are crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, eBay is over-flowing with over-priced listings and over-paying buyers. I wish I had the statistics to back it up. It seems that cards that should go for $20 sneak up towards $30 consistantly on Sundays. Of course, being addicted to this hobby, I still beat my head against the wall ever seventh day.:D

I've noticed that about Sundays as well. I've been sniped plenty of times but I always end up finding the card I want later and in my price range. I refuse to overpay just to "win"

Exhibitman 07-16-2012 06:04 AM

Just depends on the item and the timing. I scored a pretty good item yesterday seemingly at a fraction of the typical price.

Take heart. I am planning to list some things to close for next Sunday which means everything will close low.

I defaintly agree with the Sunday theory. At times when I had to sell items I always listed and had them end on Sunday evening, and sure enough it works pretty well. It's frustrating as a buyer though :(

Some of those cards that went for high prices were being contested by two guys who really need them to complete sets. I am only a casual collector of series 80 and have not been able to win any of the cards I've wanted in weeks because of the competition

I have a set of Yankees and Giants that I am working on but when the cards get over $200.00 I think twice about the card and it has to be exceptional for me to go higher.
