J F H & Son Vintage Bat Questions
Hi-
I recently acquired a vintage bat with an odd stamping on the label. The bat appears to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s. The label reads J F H & SON. Is there any chance this is a very early Hillerich bat? Has anyone seen a similar label? I would appreciate any additional information regarding this bat. Do you agree with my age assessment? Is the labelling just a coincidence? Could it be a fake? If so, why create a new label? I purchased it at a good price for a generic early 20th century bat so I know it was not faked by the dealer I bought it from. Please let me know if you need better pictures. Thanks in advance, Alan Elefson aelefson@hotmail.com |
It looks hand stamped, one letter at a time. I dont think its H&B. I also don't think its a pre 1900 bat.

I have never seen this type. Agree, I think the stamping was added to the bat.

Thank you for the information! Can either of you hazard a guess as to the age of the bat? I can post pictures of the knob and barrel end if it helps.
