Help identifying football photo (from movie?)

1 Attachment(s)
Hello. Does anyone recognize this image? It was found at a flea market in a huge stack of movie publicity stills that go back as early as the 1920s, so I'm guessing it's from a film. I don't recognize any of the actors. Does it ring any bells with anyone? Any help would be appreciated. Whether it's a real team or a movie still, I like the image.
Thanks.
Rob

They probably are not actors, back in the 1920's they would use USC players amd guys from other Colleges from time to time to fill in the movies and "act" as Football players. USC's Nate Barrager was in several films and got his USC buddy Marion Morrison to help out in one. He had such a great time he decided he would make it his career, so he changed his name to JOHN WAYNE and off he went! I havent examined your but my guess is it is a College team with maybe an actor or two in there (or maybe no actors) that was participating in a film.

Thanks for the information. Very interesting. Anyone else recognize any of the players? I'll have to see if there's a vintage football board perhaps. I imagine there is one.

I don't recognize any of the players (thats not to say there isn't anyone significant in it though). I can tell you that the photo likely dates to the mid 1920's or so by the friction jerseys some of them are wearing. Your best bet would be looking through spalding football guides from that time period at the team photos of the various college teams.

OK, thanks much. If the photo's from a movie, I suppose it could be a later shot with period uniforms, right?
