What is your PSA to SGC Crossover success rate?

Based on my previous poll, it appears Net54Baseball's users prefer SGC over PSA for vintage cards, 77 to 23. I plan to submit my PSA cards to SGC for crossover.

What is your success rate when crossing your PSA cards to SGC?

I think you need to judge each card on its own merits for the crossover. If the card is strong for its grade, it will likely cross. If it is weak for its grade, then it may not cross. SGC is usually known however for giving crossovers a fair shake; however, they still would not crossover inferior cards at the same grade.

Crossover

Make sure you put down the minimum grade you'd accept in a crossover, as I wouldn't have a PSA 5 go into an SGC 40 holder, which I've seen. I agree with Gary on SGC giving a fair shake, but you don't want to drop a full grade or more just to get your cards in an SGC holder.

This is an area

This is an area where SGC is far better and more willing to cross cards then PSA is. I honestly sometimes think SGC is more lenient on crossovers than raw and PSA is much much harder and unwilling to crossover.

In my experience, SGC has been honest in its PSA crossovers. I've had some really nice PSA 4s cross to SGC 60s, without cracking the case -- one was a T206 Cobb.

When I submitted 40 PSA T206 cards for a cross-over awhile back, only about 30 crossed over. The 9 of the ten that didn't were because PSA had encapsulated a creased card without noticing or caring. And my PSA 5 T206 Home Run Baker didn't cross because of evidence of trimming.

Crossover

Larry, My experience has bee SGC to PSA only. My rate of success has been very good. As others said make sure you put down the minimum grade acceptable. If you are crossing over for your collection this is a great thing as the holders are attractive. If you are going to be selling the crossovers then I would NOT cross them over.

I have done a ton of PSA to SGC Crossovers - here are the results of my last batch but its been about the same for all of them (around 500 or so cards)-

17% Got a positive bump (6 out of 35)
49% Crossed even (17 out of 35 cards)
20% Got a downward bump (7 out of 35)
14% Did not cross (5 out of 35)
34% got a negative result (either dropped a grade or DNC)

Good luck!

Question, If you put a minimum grade, do they not put it in an SGC holder and leave in PSA or do they put in SGC and authenticate?

If you put a minimum grade they'll leave it in the original holder unless it crosses over at or above your original grade.
