Semi-Pro Baseball Pennant or Something Else?
Not sure what this is... and hoping to get opinions. Here is a pennant, I do not know if it is for the Toppenish Squawmen (circa 1922-1949), a semi-pro baseball team from Central Washington. The local high schools nickname is the Wildcats, so probably not from there, and there is no college in Toppenish, but plenty of Native American presence. Could it be some type of town promotion? It is felt, the dimensions are about 8" long x 4" wide. Nothing on the back except feathers sticking though the felt. Hoping someone who knows pennants can help. Thank you.

I don't have the answer but that is a cool looking pennant. Don't think I have seen one like that before. After a bit of searching I think it could just be a tourist gift. The town is steeped in American Indian history as you pointed out. I think there are some tourist attractions and I could picture that in a gift store. I could be wrong but I would think if it was for a team it would have a team name on it. Could also be for team you found out about too. |
$10!
I got an email from a former Toppenish High School band member who performed in the Tacoma/Daffodil Parade in the late 1950's that says this was on instruments for the band. Makes sense. Think I'll keep it anyway. |
Simply a travel pennant. Nice, but not baseball related.
