Legendary Winners - Part I
How did everyone do last night?
I was lucky enough to pick up the 1897 Cleveland BB Club pinback & San Francisco Seals DiMaggio photo (throwing). Interesting to note that the accompanying Seals DiMaggio (batting) photo was the same image used on his Pebble Beach Clothiers card from 1935. My guess is that very few people realized that as I think it would have sold for a good deal more. Not quite the same thing as a photo used for the 1952 Topps Mantle card but still pretty cool IMHO. |
Looks like I finally got my e94 Wags...yay!
|
Collins McCarthy Joe Jackson
I bid the Collins McCarthy Joe Jackson card up as high as I could. I still got smoked by nearly $10K!! Ouch.
Whoever won the card, congrats on a great pickup. Tony |
a few
Picked up the D381 Ferguson's Bakery card coupon Pillow Top premium. My friends at Legendary had fun with the description. Add the Large Alexander pennant and the BF104s and it was a felt type night for me. Now I just need to figure out how to pay for them. It would have been more difficult if I really wanted to go hog wild on the '52 Mantle photo tonight.

'33 Goudey Lou Gehrig - PSA 4
Hey folks...it's been a long, long time. A genuine, respectful "hello" to the many of you I considered friends. It's time to jump back in the pool. This time, I won't let the yellowish/warm sections keep me away :)
In this auction, I purchased my first card in about 10 years, the '33 Goudey Gehrig PSA 4. It's always been my favorite, glad to have one again. Be well, looking forward to this sequel! Mike Williams |

Let me be the first to welcome you back. For folks that don't know Mike and John Spencer created the very first iteration of our board, sometime back around 1998. |
In the boxing realm, I finally got my n175 thanks to a very cool and generous bidding partner. :)
1887 N175 Gypsy Queen Pete Mccoy This is now my Holy Grail Card. Tied with my 1/1 Onyx 2010 Turkey Red Floyd Mayweather. I'm stoked today :) Also won a couple other boxing lots. Old Judges. |

It was a felt night for me too Leon. Picked up the Schulte and the Collins BF2 premiums along with several lots of BF3s. I was tempted to go after the Alexander but the budget wouldn't allow it. Congrats.

I picked up the Roger Connor OJ, lot 11. I'm very happy with the price.
Someone got a good deal on a Hoy card, anyone here get that? |
I was hoping for the E90-2 Wagner, but the price just took off at the end. I love the 30 minute closing on each lot also. Congrats on the pick ups guys.

The last of the T206s

I wanted to have a creaseless T206 set less Wagner, Plank and Doyle and this completes it for me. I would have liked to have had one that wasn't slightly trimmed but I liked the look of it. :)

Pete- congratulations on the nice red Wagner. Had I not won the T206 Demmitt St. Louis, I was going to keep bidding on this card, so I am glad 1) it's going to a good home and 2) I glad I saved you some money. tbob |

I've seen a board member's Pebble Beach PC DiMaggio and recognized the photo. If I didn't have so much tied up I would have given you a run for your money! Leon great pick up on the large G.C. Alexander BF; for it's rarity and status of the player I think you got a good deal |
Thanks, Craig

Those banners are sexy

If the person who picked up the postcard in Lot 1814 reads this and ever decides to part with it, pls let me know, as I'll give you a good bit more than it went for. I'm a diehard Bucs fan! Thanks!

Well? Now that everone has had time to wire money to legendary...what else was won?
|
If anyone won lot 1569 (random collection of vintage autos), my dumb self forgot to bid on it before the extended bidding cutoff, and I am very interested in the Dodgers team sheet.
|
legendary
I've been gradually putting together several White sox/Black sox display items from
1917-1920. Legendary has been helpful a second time---in 2009 I won a vintage Thompson photo from the '17 World series with Art Fletcher tagging Buck Weaver at second base. This time I won a rare Ray Schalk endorsed catcher's mitt from the John Graham collection. all the best, barry |
1933 George C. Millers....

If the winner of the 1929-30 Exhibits set was a board member and you would consider selling the Ruth/Gehrig/Durocher card, please PM me for a generous offer.
Thanks |
If the winner of lot #1091 the 47-66 Exhibits set posts here, I am interested in the Brooklyn Dodgers team cards from the set. Please PM me!
|
I won the 1926-29 Exhibit Paul Waner Auto
