OT / Scanning Software
For scanning my cards I've been using Adobe Photoshop 5.5 for years but lately it just crashes and crashes. I have tried everything from shutting down all other programs that are running to rebooting, etc.
So, I've finally decided to switch to another program. But which one? Can anyone recommend any decent scanning software out there. thanks! |
Paint.net
When I updated to my newer HP computer they didn't have drivers that worked with Vista for my HP scanner that I had bought a few years prior to my upgrade. My solution was to use Paint.net. It's free to download. I use it to resize and rotate images that I import to my scanner.
It works great. No issues. Hope this helps. Patrick |
would be curious about the same question. the scanner software that came with my HP MFP no longer launches from Win7, so I've been stuck using the scanning software that came with Microsoft Office, which is subpar for images.

I've had the same problem. When I went to Windows 7 my old scanner was making a terrible moire pattern on all exhibit cards and another pattern on most post-war cards. Only real photos were scanning properly. It was the driver for the scanner. Go to HP's site and search for your scanner model. There may be a workaround or patch to download. In my case I had to download and install a Windows 7 driver for a different model scanner, which took care of the issues I was having. I use Microsoft's photo editing program to edit the images.
