I loved watching him play first base when I was a boy. A great one.
My sincerest sympathy to family, friends, and fans. Barry |
As a kid I remember Moose as a real clutch hitter. In the early-1990s, I had the pleasure of meeting him at a card show in Milford, CT and I found him to be a real gentleman. Moose, you will be missed.

On your autographed ball - Is that a Bernie Allen signature below Moose? If so, it as the makings of a Purdue Boilermaker signed ball (Moose was there in the late 40s and Allen about a decade later). Who is that on top? I had the pleasure of being around Moose many times over the years and always enjoyed his stories, but none more than when he told of his days at Purdue. I wish I'd had him sign one of his old Boilermaker football photos. He will be missed. |
Third signature
The third autograph is Hank Bauer. A friend of mine got this for me at an Old Timers event in Indianapolis in the late 90s. I'm a Purdue alumnus and had no idea those two were Boilermakers... time to brush up on some history.

My Dad is a Purdue Grad, and played Baseball with Moose at Purdue, and knew him relatively well.
The Purdue coach at that time was Ray Schalk. |
Man, that is cool.
