Help Determining Date of Baseball Cleats
4 Attachment(s)
I am looking for help in determining the date/era of a pair of Spalding baseball cleats. The cleats have an AG Spalding logo with an 1876 Trademark on the inside tongue of the cleats (pic below). I have also attached a few pics of the actual cleats. (My apologies for large size of photos - Im not sure how to make them smaller).
I dont know if it is possible to narrow the date/era of the cleats down or if it could only be stated that they are post-1876? Also, I have an interest in vintage baseball cleats and catcher's masks; however, I have a difficult time determining the era of the baseball equipment (obviously - reason for thread). Is there any books, magazines, websites, etc., that I could use to eduacate myself on the topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks - Andy |

Thanks Jim
Thanks Jim.
These logos were definitely helpful! The Spalding logo on my cleats has "EST AD 1876"; however, none of the ones listed have the "EST" on the logos. Could this be a common variation in the logo? Otherwise, the logo does look similar to the 1911-1913 logo. The "S" in Bros definitely ends close to the bottom "G" in Spalding. Plus with the "Reg US Pat Off" on the logo, I now know they are atleast post 1905. Thanks again for your help - greatly appreciated. Andy |
