Slightly OT: Yanks vs. Red Sox Friday Vintage Uniforms....
I'm watching the Yankee game and they mentioned that on Friday the Yankees will be playing the Sox in Fenway. They said the Yankees will be wearing the old Highlander Jerseys Pre-1913 type away jerseys for game.
I didn't hear whether or not the Sox would also be wearing the old-school jerseys or not, but I would think they might be. They even showed the old stirrups (prob not everyone will wear them though) The game starts at 3, I'll probably catch the end and maybe watch the encore. Two oldtime storied franchises playing with some old uniforms (at least Yankees), should be cool.... |
Thanks for posting. It should be interesting to see. I wonder if there will be any conversation about the players from 100 years ago.

Red Sox will indeed be wearing 1912-style unis as well. Should be a fun time - all living former Sox players have been invited back for the game.
I will be there and have been looking forward to it for a while now! |
Scott, I'll ask both you and Steve F to pick me up a scorebook and a ticket if available.

Hopefully the Yankees win this time unlike 100 years ago.

Oldest living Red Sox player is Lou Lucier, pitcher for the 1943-44 team Bobby Doerr is just 15 days younger than him and no one still living played at Fenway earlier than Doerr Connie Marrero is the only living player older than Fenway, he was born 4/25/1911 Jamie Moyer did not pitch the Fenway opener |
Are you sure?
Jamie Moyer did not pitch the Fenway opener
Good one, Z28JD......gave me a good chuckle. |

Bostons throwback white surrender cap!
I really liked the throwback unis both teams wore today, but Bostons white cap with no "B" on it has to go! With Buckholtz giving up 5 homers today I think we should call these white caps "SURRENDER CAPS"!
