OT... But and amazing article.
It's a bit off topic, but it's a great read on the love of baseball through generations. This guy is an original...

Great read. During a Med cruise in 1989, we had a group of 8 of us that drafted players on Earl Weaver Baseball game and played an entire season during the 6 months. It helped pass the time, put a bit of cash in a few pockets. We only got to manager the game and not actually play. I took Cobb with the first pick and used Gibson's 1.12 era season as a second round pick. It was my first exposure to the prewar guys and still have the game on a floppy.

That was an interesting read. I liked the radio podcast that the radio station from Pittsburg made using his computer program. Does anyone remember those "fantasy" games that they broadcast during the 1981 baseball strike? I remember listening to a broadcast that was one of the classic Yankee teams versus one of the best Cardinal squads. I think Bob Costas was the announcer. Do these broadcasts still exist?

Awesome read... I love how, at the end of the article, Mr. Brugeson doesn't judge! He simply show's the grace and child like dreaming to include player's playing in Heaven as he Hope's it'll be... Mr. Burgeson sounds like a Very Loving Grandfather!
Thanks Jim! |
