1960s MN Twins items

I thought I'd share a set of MN Twins postcards that I've had since the mid-60s. The cards were printed by the ASCO corporation. I love to pull these out once in a while and reminisce about Harmon hitting his towering home runs at Metropolitan Stadium...

Asco put out 5 different photo or postcard sets - you can see examples of more in my Killebrew photo collection:

I also had a Senators/Twins type collection for a while, which I discontinued in favor of focusing only on Harmon. I still have some of those cards available if you're interested, also on my Photobucket page:

I'm the original owner of this unopened packet of 1969 Twins photos which I bought at Met Stadium. I just can't bring myself to open it.
This must be the same set of photos from which the last Carew photo came...

What the heck, while I'm at it, I see some more '60s Twins stuff I can add here:

1963 and 1969 Twins autos:

Larry, I wasn't sure if you were asking me this question, but I do not have any extras of this set. Perhaps someone else may have them...

I have the complete 1965 Asco set MINUS THE KILLEBREW that I'd sell for $20postpaid - it's in apparent EXMT or NRMT shape, however the cards are slightly wavy as though they were exposed to humidity at some point (but there are NO stains or fading - just some waviness).

I'd sell just the Oliva from the 1965 set for $10 postpaid.

I also have the Oliva and Kaat from the 1968 Asco set - both are NRMT or better. I'd sell the Oliva for $10 postpaid, the Kaat for $6 postpaid.

I also have a team-issued 4x5 of Killebrew from the "1972-77" set - it's EXMT or NRMT, and I'd sell it for $7 postpaid.

I've uploaded pix to:

I was paging through an old Sports Collectors Bible and saw that there are two size versions of 3 of the blue bordered Asco postcards (Carew and two others). Has anyone ever seen these before?

This isn't from the 60s, but an interesting set.

Here's a scored program from game 2 of the 1965 World Series in MN. Koufax started, and lost, this game after missing game 1 due to Yom Kippur

Koufax

There was a thread on CU about would you rather have Gibson or Koufax pitching...for a career, a year, a game...most went with Koufax, but some one did say that if it was Yom Kippur they'd take Gibson :)

doug.goodman 05-27-2012 05:53 PM

After the Yom Kippur game, during which Drysdale got shelled, a reporter supposedly asked Walter Alston if he wished that Drysdale was Jewish.

Doug,

Thanks for sharing the '62 and '65 Twins programs. I love 'em! It's neat to see how others score the games. I see you have the weather, etc. at game time. Great idea!

HoofHearted 05-31-2012 10:57 PM

In post #8 above, did any one notice that at the bottom right of the 1969 autos is a "John Mauer" over the the "John Mauer, Clinic" title? Is that any relation to Joe??

You're welcome.

I didn't actually score either of those games, I was born in 1963.

I collect scored scorecards / programs, and there are almost as many styles of scorekeeping as there are scorekeepers.
