The Winter League WG4 All-Star Card Baseball Game

Here's a neat ad for the All-Star Card Baseball Game (WG4). I particularly like the admonition to dealers that if they don't carry the game, the value of this ad is lost upon them. (But wouldn't the card company want dealers who don't carry the game to start carrying the game?)

And, as the company did note, the cards themselves are attractive enough for souvenirs.

early MLM

Thanks for showing that Max. Also, if 10 boys "sold their friends" they would get one free. Sounds like an early multi-level marketing gig. The early game sets are still one of the affordable ways to collect top tier HOF'ers from period sets.

Nifty find, Max, thanks for sharing it.
Do you know the source or the exact date of that ad?
We just recently added a page of vintage print advertisements for tabletop baseballgames at our website.

Butch

It's from the December 1914 issue of Boy's Life.

many thanks for sharing!! great stuff!
I have the WG4 game with the instruction booklet, underneath on the top piece of the box is the diamond used for each player's circling of the bases, on the bottom piece are two sections(one for cards, the other for score sheets, and 2 discs(one white/yellow, the other red
for each player to use for circling the bases). My favorite element is the
score sheet with the names of the players:buster versus brewster and buster
versus david---obviously names from that era!!!
all the best,
barry
