I'm looking to purchase autographs of the following 1914 Miracle Braves: Lefty Tyler, Possum Whitted, Bert Whaling, Oscar Dugey, Paul Strand, Butch Schmidt, Dick Crutcher, and Joe Connolly (3x5, cut, pc, or any small flat is fine). Can anyone help? Thanks!

Wow . . .

.

. . . now that's a tough want list. Even one guy wth fairly recent deceased year commanded $100 in 2005. And autographs of some of these guys may have only popped up once or twice in the past 15 years. I don't track auctions or eBay, but what resources I do have, here is what was last offered:

name . . . . . . . . . died . . item . . . . price . . . offered
-----------------------------------------------------

Lefty Tyler . . . . . 1953 . . cut . . . $350.00 . . . 2010

Possum Whitted . .1962 . . GPC . . . $225.00 . . . 2005

Bert Whaling . . . . 1970 . . GPC . . . $ 75.00 . . . 1998

Oscar Dugey . . . . 1966 . . GPC . . . $ 45.00 . . . 1998
Oscar Dugey . . . . 1966 . . 24' ck. . $225.00 . . . 2005

Paul Strand. . . . . 1974 . . 3x5. . . . $100.00 . . . 2005

Butch Schmidt. . . 1952 . . nothing ?

Dick Crutcher . . . 1952 . . GPC . . . $ 85.00 . . . 1998

Joe Connolly. . . . 1943 . . cut. . . . $450.00 . . . 2010

Good luck Steve. An admirable group to try to locate!

What kind of resources are out there that show such offer prices? Especially on the more obscure players. I am going to be working on a similar project and could use the info.

Thanks Vincent and Tom. Vincent, where did you find that pricing information? That's really useful info.

Pricing information . . .

.

was physically culled from a mountain of paper, composed of a variety of dealer price lists and advertisements cut from the pages of SCD. Since I stopped subscribing to SCD in 2005, it's more than likely some of the items on Steve S. list have been offered more recently than the 1998 date I stated. And quite possible that I overlooked an offering or two for Charles "Butch" Schmidt somewhere too. That was alot of paper to look through.

I still receive a couple of dealer listings via email, and occassionally access other dealer's available inventory via their websites. I also like to note what I encounter when searching through dealer stock at the National Show.

If/when I feel spry enough, I might tackle the archived auction history of some of the large auction companies for data. But for now, my mountain of hardcopy data is more than enough challenge to eventually transform into electronic data. It's on my "bucket list"; just not sure where.
