I am small time, and dont have as many Ruths as I once had, but here are 2 that I know 100% fact no one else has ;)
http://centuryoldcards.com/images/1920cubanruth.jpg ca1920's Cuban Ruth... Found tucked into an old Spalding Guide that was formally owned by the premier Cuban baseball historian and author, Severo Nieto. 2-1/2" by 3-3/4" thick stock http://centuryoldcards.com/images/1933r340ruth.jpg Not a R309-1 This is thought to be the unissued R340 premium advertised on the 1933 Sport Kings wrappers. Its the only known example (besides a large paper stock "proof" discovered in the files of the Goudey Gum Co. years ago. This finished piece is thought to be from the same find) It has an extra wide green borders and a green name plaque (R309-1's are gold). The easel on back is a different design compared to the R309-1's. Top has a holepunch for hanging. Because of the green borders it is roughly 1/2" wider and taller than the R309-1. Quality of the image (like the proof) is far superior compared to the R309-1's. I have many Ruth card images Ive collected over the years (close to 100 different cards, many oddballs)... one day Im going to make a page and picture them all like a museum ..... my fav player by far :) |

1928 E-Unc. Geo H. Ruth Candy Co. #6 (short printed chase card) sepia SF back version a few years ago I sent this in to SGC to get it slabbed, they would NOT do it cause they said it was a reprint. How in the heck can a reprint show more of the image compared to the known authentic cards??? They knew this info as I sent these images below with the card. They dont seem to use common sense... My rant for the day. Ive also owned or seen 2 other sepia SF back cards (#3, and #5) and they also have the same characteristics with more of the image on 1 or more sides compared to slabbed B&W Cleveland or Blank backed cards http://centuryoldcards.com/images/19...dy6reprint.jpg |

Great cards everyone...esp Leons...here are my favorites that I own:

Frank, With the genuine images cropped differently. If I didn't know better, I'd guess one was iffy.

:D I like how HBroll also posted his mystery card with a quarter! ;)
Frank, that unissued R340 premium is gorgeous, if a card could ever carry such an adjective. Sport Kings represent! http://www.collectorfocus.com/upload...babe-ruth2.jpg |

Bat from the original Babe Ruth Story. Got it as a gift about 25 years ago from a relative of William Bendix, who was real good friends with my grandparents. Sorry about the bad pictures, old cell phone shots from five years ago

Do newer cut up jersey cards count too ;)

Jeff:
Without breaking the bank, my suggestion on a Ruth card for you would be the M101-6, it won't be too cheap but quite scarce and a very early Ruth card. |

Nothing special here. Picked this up at a local Antique shop. Signed by Babe Ruth's grand daughter, Linda Ruth Tosetti during her visit to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame here last summer.

For the sake of transparency, this card came from my collection - I have no providence to suggest it came from the same find as the large paper proof that Frank mentions. |

My only Babe
Last of the 10-15 Ruth cards I've had...sold my last 4 Ruths in a group of cards to help finance this:

Probably a 5k+ card |
True, Craig, but at $5K it is still probably about 1/4 the price of a Collins McCarthy or Boston Store and maybe 1/10 or less of the price on an M101-4/5 these days. I don't like any of the strip cards so the M101-6 seems to be the best fit to me.

I absolutely love that card Daryle. I think the window has closed for me to ever own that card based on recent auction prices. I guess this is my small-budget collection centerpiece.

Several years ago I wrote and presented on this forum an article on the Babe's "Called Shot" that in includes images of memorabilia from that game. If anyone missed it here is the

I like to feel the old time wool...evokes the spirit of the BABE whenever I feel the rough wool..makes me really thankful for cotton!
The babe/ott is numberd to 15 and there is a thread in the babe jersey that may have been part of his name stiching! http://i.imgur.com/CHGOa.jpg |
