And it continues......

Well, at least as of now, there is no bidding frenzy for this junk.

Aside from the balls being fake and all, I have to admit that I kinda like the first framed display. Would never buy it, but it is a nice looking display...Too bad it's displaying future CC consignments..

sold
So it looks like someone liked them for at least $256 and $99, respectively.

Is there any hope of getting these pulled if enough people report them as counterfeit/unauthorized reproductions?

eBay has a category for autographs reprints, so there you go.

and more coming from other sellers....

and more...

My thinking was that even if they are getting away with repro autos by explicitly stating them as such, they also explicitly state that the trademarked manufacturers' names and logos are reproduced on the ball. You couldn't get away with selling fake Gucci handbags just by explicitly calling them "reproduction Gucci handbags," regardless of what category you list them in. Is the difference here that the trademark is not being actively protected by its holder?

The number of repro autographs on ebay, in all categories, has reached epidemic proportions. I actually now see sellers of repros auctioning them off as if there is actually something valuable or unique to a repro.
In addition the funniest thing is that the repro producers have NO CLUE as to what is authentic or not. Here is a repro item now for sale on ebay, using two of the worst forgeries of Ruth and Gehrig. I tried to write this seller to tell him of this fact but he has his e bay mail blocked. |
Why don't they buy a box of cheap baseballs and just sign them on their own?
|
so
So the first one has been re-listed and the second one sold for $99.00 ....amazing.
