Hostess Boxes - How many variations?

Before I go and spend a bunch of time researching something regarding 70's Hostess cards I thought I'd shoot a question out here and see if someone else has already done the dirty work, thus saving me a ton of wasted hours...

Is there a list floating around that shows how many different hostess boxes each panel appeared on? For example, in 1976 panel x appeared on King Dongs and Suzie Q's while panel z appeared on blah blah blah, you get the idea.

I would also be interested in a similar list for 80's Drakes products.

Obviously this thread would only matter to those collecting entire boxes.

Thanks!

The 80's drakes panels were only on one product for each panel. There are probably regional variations like different products or products named differently in different areas.
I collected those when they were new. And ate a bunch of snacks I didn't like as much as others just to get the whole set. I think I'm one box away from completing all of them.

And the years they weren't on the box the boxes had stickers advertising the cards. Those just weren't saved, I haven't seen any besides the few I kept.

I'm not sure about Hostess. I know they had regional names, "king dons" vs "ding dongs" so full boxes can be found with both names.

I don't have any of the same panels on different boxes, but those are much larger sets.

Of course if you're totally crazy about them the different bakeries are listed on the package......

I have tried to inventory each hostess box variation but have not finished it basically just been tracking eBay sales for over a year now but have a pretty good jump on it.

It is interesting that some panels that are listed as short printed are actually on more boxes than some non SP ones so not sure how the SP list ever got created. Here is a link to my excel spreadsheet of verified boxes and variations.

Any additions I'd like to see them.

That should make Drake's pretty easy, thanks for the input.

Not that I'm admitting I'm crazy but I would be interested in hearing you further explain the different bakeries thing, can you elaborate please?

Uh, all I can say is WOW. You are supplying me with research gold here. A thousand thank you's. I can only hope to pay you back by helping add something to the list. BTW- I checked out your Rose collection , you my friend have a sickness, and I mean that in a good way. If anyone out there is looking to attain the greatest Rose collection ever assembled they should just stop now because you've already done it!

I looked at a few to check exactly where the bakery info was on the boxes and found out I'd been mistaken. All the ones I can find show the main office address in Rye NY.

Different areas were supplied from different bakeries, Boston was supplied through Framingham, Ma but Florida would have been from someplace else. There may be differences, but Not as obvious as I'd thought.

Found a few of my boxes. The factory thing actually is on some 1979 boxes.

Suzy Qs and Twinkies. But not on Big Wheels.

And some adds to the list all 1979

Suzy Qs 40,41,42

Big Wheels 91,92,93
97,98,99

More when I find some other boxes I'm pretty sure are around somewhere.

I've been collecting these, but the "Twinkies" (single card) set. Talk about a brain buster. The 1977 set is one of the most confusing I've ever seen (outside of Wiffle Ball).

There are I think four different styles/sizes of full panels. The Twinkies, the cupcakes, the Snoballs and the King Dons. Some cards seem to come in two versions while most come in just one form.

This one will drive me nuts for a while.

Many share in this feeling. Hopefully having this list and adding to it a little at a time will make it easier for collectors down the road.
