Topps reusing the same image years later!!
 

Hi All:

I just picked up from Scott on the BST section a 1973 Topps Candy Tub. The reason being. I collect Richie Ashburn items.

Richie Ashburn you say? He was not in the Candy Lid set that came with these tubs. You are both correct and wrong!

Take a look at the tub below. And then take a look at Ashburns's 1960 Topps Tattoo. Topps used the same image 13 years later!

Which got me to wondering what other photos/images Topps used more than once years apart? I know back in the 50's and 60's they used the photos for some cards repeatedly, Bob Miller with the Phillies comes to mind, they even airbrushed his photo to use once he was traded to the Cardinals.

Can anyone think of another use of a photo or image non credited like this one of Ashburn?

i flipped the ashburn for you, so people could see it facing the same way. looks the same.

Strange huh, that they went back 13 years to find an image to use on the tub. You would have thought they would have come up with something more current.
