Sterling Sports Winners

Won a few items last night, I almost always manage to snag something in Brian's auctions...there is something for everyone. What did everyone else win?

Very happy to come away with these:

I won a few dollars

I'm 0 for 10 in Sterling Auctions in the last three months. On the brighter side, my consignments did get roughly what I expected.

What did I miss in lot #1 (61 T206s)? Went for just under $25/card and I only spotted one $25 card in the bunch...

I wanted the signed T206 Marquard, but I dropped out of the bidding after it hit $750. Nice card, but ....WOW... that's expensive for a signed Marquard.

Instead I nabbed this SGC 60 Bastian, which has always been one of my favorite Southern Leaguers. I'll take all the SGC 60 Southern Leaguers you want to sell me at $160.

Definitely a solid price for that group of cards, but there are some tough commons in that group that are worth more than $25, including the Titus, the two Donlins hands at knees, the Merkle portrait, the Reulbach, etc.

t206hound 03-02-2012 07:48 AM

Wow!

Wow! I need to take my SGC 40 blinders off sometimes and hunt for bargains... that card should have gone for nearly double what you paid!

pgellis 03-02-2012 07:52 AM

Nice buy on the Bastian SGC60

THEN, there was the T206 Jimmy Collins in SGC60 that went for $ 462.88 (including the juice)!!!

YIKES! That seems a little high to me?

The $402.50 amount for the Collins was with the juice... but still on the high side.

Picked up a couple Bresnahan items.

ashburnalley 03-02-2012 08:03 AM

Just getting back into collecting so I picked up a T206 George Davis Piedmont back...I was in on the EPDG back also but it got a little out of my range...

Robextend 03-02-2012 09:06 AM

Nice pickups guys! Seemed like the Old Judge cards went for very reasonable prices. I was the under-bidder on a couple of them.

Three Bottomfeeders

Not worthy to show, but if you send me $80 today, I'll have them shipped directly to you.

Rob, I like that '71 Braves booklet. I remember buying the '71 All-Stars version as a kid - still have it.

I picked up a couple last night - very pleased with the prices.

I also liked the $5 shipping for two graded cards. Beats the Clean Sweep charge of $12.75 (plus insurance) for ONE graded card.

I got this card as an upgrade for the 30 that I already had...anybody interested in the 30 to help me offset the cost?

Mine too! I snagged a couple of modern PSA 8's - '56T Kucks and '57T King.
Both are substantial upgrades to my sets. Brian indeed runs a quality auction.

deadballera 03-02-2012 02:15 PM

shipped mine too..

Love Sterling Auctions... they take Paypal !

iggyman 03-02-2012 02:57 PM

Sterling does rock! I was disappointed to win only one card, I figured the shipping was going to sink me. Yet, when my invoice arrived, they put a smile on my face. $3 bucks for shipping..............really................wow, that's refreshing.

Lovely Day...

sycks22 03-02-2012 02:57 PM

He always runs a classy operation. I love the fast shipping too.

I picked up a few nice cards. The signed Whitey Ford comic is going in my basement. Psyched to get my first Boston Store card. That was my Grandmother's favorite store but I wish she had been a card collector ...

Just picked up one - T206 Manion SL SGC A. Only my second 'off eBay' auction p/u. Nice job Sterlings overall!

AndyG09 03-02-2012 07:34 PM

I was really pleased to win a few E92s including the "combo" Schmidt and Davis cards. I also landed the T206 Foley White SGC 50 for a fair price. Tough to top the solid effort Brian gives each month.

Best,

Andy

t206blogcom 03-02-2012 10:31 PM

I picked up the t206 Elberfeld portrait. Was going for the T206 Tinker portrait, but my bid didn't hold. Glad to check another t206 off he list.

tjlives 03-03-2012 03:12 PM

Picked up a couple low grade T206 commons for a few sheckles. Was the underbidder on a bunch of the lots already shown...c'est la vie...

As always, my cards are already shipped, and I'll be anxiously awaiting next month's auction.

Rich Klein 03-05-2012 05:17 AM

I won some misc. modern material

Cards Are Here!

WOW!

Auction ended Thursday night and I have my cards Monday morning! Plus they take Paypal.

It just doesn't get much better than that! :)

deebro041 03-05-2012 12:17 PM

I won a couple of items, received the invoice and payed for it right away. I waited a couple days for a confirmation email and hadn't heard anything. I sent off an email and still haven't received a reply. Not sure how to proceed now.
Email received...all is good!
Dan

Thanks to all the board members who consigned and bid in this auction. I think it went very well, and it looks like many here are pleased with their pickups.

The next auction is just about two weeks away, so I'm looking forward to doing this again soon and hope that many of you are too.

Brian
