Umm...is there a question or were you only pointing this auction out? T206 Planks are always worthy (as is any pre-war card) of discussing. best regards

That's my dream card & I've been eyeing this one for a while. Might need to start with an E95 and work my way up :o

+1 not necessarily this one but a T206 Plank in general. I'm hopping to be able to afford an SGC 10 or 20 in the next few years..:)

g_vezina_c55 02-02-2012 05:43 PM

yep t206 plank is a realist grail for normal collector.... wagner is not realist for normal salary guy.. it is only a dream...

Jaybird 02-02-2012 06:33 PM

Nice card. Just a small gripe. At $29K, maybe toss in shipping for free?

steve B 02-02-2012 07:32 PM

Pretty nice. If I had that sort of cash I might be after it.

But the hype in the description is funny
" boasting a center illustration of NM character "

(And a lower edge altered by mice)

Hey! I have a few cards like that! Now I know how to make them sound nicer:)

If the eBay seller of this card isn't already a writer of auction catalog descriptions, he is missing his calling in life! :)

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 06:35 AM

unsold....

anybody know this seller?

bjcunningham 02-06-2012 07:39 AM

Plank

http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...x?lotid=121163

It had sold for $22,705 in August.

sycks22 02-06-2012 07:47 AM

I actually know the seller pretty well. He's a great guy and I've done some business with him in the past. He also has a T206 Wagner.

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 07:55 AM

OK nice. yep i have talked with him and he look like to be a great guy. i think about perhaps bought the Plank if i sell my collectible car.

it is why i ask it.

I would try to get a nice 3 in the 30-42k range, rea is around the corner and they usually have a couple. 29k is way to much for that pos.

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 08:36 AM

Thanks for your advice !

Runscott 02-06-2012 09:47 AM

I think you could do a lot worse than this Plank.

+1

alanu 02-06-2012 11:06 AM

Is this card trimmed or does it just have the rough cut/damage at the bottom.... the top border seems to be a little ascew too...

Not that I'm going to buy it, but I would prefer this card to a beat up "1"... as far as that goes, if this was a common I would say the same thing.

atx840 02-06-2012 11:06 AM

Agreed, its definitely not a POS.

If I had 22-25k and wanted a clean, crease free, no missing paper example this would be the one I'd go for.

Johnny, no disrespect, but how can you call this card a POS . It may be altered, but nonetheless, a gorgeous card, IMHO.

For 29k call it like it is. Reauction and it gets 15k plus juice maybe. To many 2 and 3s to even consider this IMO and if your talking about selling a classic car atleast get a real card.

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 04:35 PM

what do you mean by get a real card ?

One that hadsn't been messed with, hacked up, restored or recolored who knows what it's been through and when you can get a sick 3 for just a little more nothing to think about. Or if you like this one offer 16-18k and see what happens it might be worth that or a little more.

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 04:54 PM

ok so the corect price for this plank is arround 20...

The correct price is what someone is willing to pay for it. Look at the last auction it sold in (fairly recent) and that is a probable indicator of market value...but on any given day it could be much different too. It is a nice looking AUT and I would put it in the 20k range....just as the last auction it sold in. Could it be 25k, maybe, could it be 30k, probably not in auction today.

Exactly , and if the seller has a Wagner probably not in any need of cash so not sure why they would even bother with this card . The last authentic Plank someone tried to flip, and the card was way nicer than this , the seller took such a beating it put him out the hobby.

I actually agree with Johnny on this one, contrary to everyone elses opinion. I get that it's a Plank, and its a sharp looking card. But for that price, you might as well hold out until you see a sgc 1 or 2, which you can probably get for that price, or even cheaper! For the price listed, I can see why Johnny called it a POS.

For 16-18k? It's a gem!! Love it! lol

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 05:41 PM

thanks a lot for your advice.

sorry but what do you mean by POS?

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 05:51 PM

OK. sorry but for me any eddie plank card deserve respect....No eddie plank is a piece of shit...i can understand the price is high, but this card deserve respect. it is my humble opinion.

Runscott 02-06-2012 05:57 PM

Johnny and Pete - since this is a pos, please post a scan of a graded 150-series Plank that you like better (one that doesn't have controversy over whether or not it was trimmed).

Well maybe I was a little harsh, definately not an easy card to find in any condition or back.

First one posted has been restored & currently owned by a board member.

"This card has undergone a very sophisticated restoration process in which paper fibers have been added to the corners and blue inpainting has been painstakingly and most professionally applied..."

Second one posted has had a chemical bath since then but still graded by PSA so you never know with even the graded examples. Wonka pointed this one out. Link

Third one costs 300% more then what we are suggesting the ebay one is worth.

g_vezina_c55 02-06-2012 06:41 PM

the sgc30 at 32 000 $ .. i love it... and i understand your opinion...

29 000 for authentic card
32 000 for sgc30

the choice is not hard to make....

but the sgc sale is in 2010... how much is the value of this sgc30 in the 2012 market ?

It's okay. My point is that there might not be any numeric-graded 150's, making the altered 150 in question desirable (if you want a nice-looking 150).

Out of the three you showed, the first one is a 150, but 'authentic', the second and third are both 350 series. No graded (numeric) 150's.

Good stuff, Chris. I kind of cheated - when I was doing Plank research for my website, a board member informed me that there aren't any known numeric-graded Planks with 150 series backs. I did not know this, but knowing it now, I have nothing against the card in question. It's a beauty, and if you want one, it will have to be hand-cut (from what I'm told).

If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me.

I didn't even think of that, great point . As far as 2012 value on a 2 or 3, better get 45k set aside and be ready and hope a couple are listed at the same time . When I get my 2 or 3 I guess it will probably be a 350 series.

sportscardpete 02-07-2012 06:42 AM

I take back everything I said, nice links! Didn't think about the "150" back..

I would just personally love a roughed up plank than an altered one, but that's just my opinion. It's kind of tough spending that much money on a card that has been altered..

X 2

i have the same opinion of you. if i have the choice about an alterate psa plank or for a little bit more money for a psa 1 card, i choose the psa 1.

can you give to me info about the back of the card, you speak about 150, 350... etc... ? any difference in the value of the card ?

sb1 02-07-2012 07:22 AM

Here's a numerical 150 and a 350

1 Attachment(s)
There are some 150's in numerical holders.

I have provided this info before about 150 T206's, whether it be Plank or any other will always be much bolder in color and sharper. All of the 350 Planks are a washed out Blue, often a bit out of register. You can see this much more clearly side by side. Many times 350's look nice in an auction catalogue but are really not as nice as any 150.

g_vezina_c55 02-07-2012 08:05 AM

thx, i ll see the difference !

what is the other difference ? the year of production ? what is the signification of 150 or 350 ?

A little more info as I was on SGC's website gathering data for the 100's of T206's in our upcoming auction(cheap plug). SGC has graded 16 350 Sweet Caporal Plank's, 6 150 Sweet Caporal, 5 of which were AUT and 1 150 Piedmont, also AUT.

I think it may be a fair statement that a nice numerical 150 would bring a substantial premium in the market.
