Please say a prayer for Tim Turner

Tim and myself have been trading on and off for more than 30 years and I heard from his brother in law tonight that Tim's cancer has returned with a vengenace and it could be any day now.

Tim is one of my favorite people in the hobby and I will miss him very much

Don't know Tim but consider it done.

Cancer Sucks!

It's never good to hear of anyone dealing with this horrible disease. I hope Tim, his family, and his friends the best in the time that he has left. But also as Jimmy V. said, "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up!" Micacles can/do happen!

Cancer is a horrid disease. As some of you may remember, I lost my young wife to Lung cancer in July 2010. I was left with heartache and a five year old son to raise. It was hard. We learned of the Cancer at the end of April, and she died ten weeks later. So fast....

I HATE this disease!!! HATE IT!

I wish your friend all my prayers that he is one of the few who can beat that SOB...

Rich, I am very sorry to hear this. I'm a pretty poor excuse for a Christian, but I'll do my best.

God Bless Tim. I have traded what seems like millions of Reds cards with Tim since the 1970's. I'll never forget meeting him for the first time at the old Detroit show in 1980. He was organizing the dealer softball game.
Tim's simply a wonderful guy and I'm blessed to know him.
Rich, trading partners like you, Tim & I have kept our hobby on the fun side.
Prayers go out to EVERYONE......

May all our prayers and heartfelt thoughts be with Tim in his time of greatest need. It's not necessary to know him to have him in my prayers-just as Kadence has been since I learned about her.
May God bless him, Len

I do not know Tim Turner, but I wish him and his family all the best. I am 3 years cancer free but/and also pray that the next test is OK. I understand the stress that he and his family is going through.

My thoughts and prayers to Tim, his family and also his friends.

Tim is one of the longtime good guys of our hobby. Haven't seen him since we left Ohio in '84; actually, perhaps we may have bumped into each other at the 5th National that summer. Made an eBay purchase or two from him last year, so a quarter century had passed since our last contact. Amazing!

Tim is a very upbeat man who really kept the fun in collecting.

We will certainly pray for him and his family.

Sad Update

I heard from his brother in law this morning; Tim's pain is gone as he passed on last Thursday surrounded by his family. Between this and my column for Sports Collectors Daily the family also sent their appreciation for everyone who kept him in their prayers.

It's amazing the trials and tribulations that we as humans go through in passing. I have always said that in many ways, we are more kind to our pets when it comes time to die. No more pain for Mr. Turner as he is in a better place.

Rest in peace Tim. Having had to deal with this terrible illness 3 times My mother ,My wife, And My sister in law. Im still 2 for 3 having lost my sister in law at 48. I carry this prayer in my wallet every day to remind me. Life can come and go at the blink of an eye. To Tim and his family may god bless you.

vintagechris 02-05-2012 07:37 AM

My prayers to Tim's family. I lost my Mother in Nov of '09 to cancer and then a dear collector friend to cancer just a few weeks later.

My mother was actually on Hospice care for 17 months before she passed. After a few months of watching the pain and suffering, you just want them to have peace. Although I am sure Tim will be missed by many, he is now at peace.
