History of reprints
We all know of the Dover reprints.Easy to spot. When were the older reprints done of Goudey and T-206? I see alot on ebay that say "old reprints". Who did them? Are they easy to recognize? They look worn enough to fool.

"Old" being a relative term, 1970s is about as far back as anybody reprinted baseball cards such as Goudey, T206, etc.

There were a few collectors sets that were basically reprints of T206s, Easy to spot as they're black and white.
The dover ones were the first ones I saw that looked like the cards at all. Most of the rest came later and were usually pretty obvious. The "old" reprints on Ebay I think are mostly very new computer printed fakes. Easy to make, and they probably wouldn't fool many people if the card was in hand, The one puzzler I have is this one. Bought at the first show I went to in 78, for something like $2. The shop I hung out at pointed out that it was fake right off. Wood isn't in the 120 series, but is in the 80 series. Reprinting something like this was a lot of work for $2. Especially since I have never seen another, or any that are similar.
