The Gehrig Variations (with apologies to J S Bach)
On a new Ted Williams thread appearing here, a member stated that two Williams signatures differed from one another, so at least one must be a fake. I'm no expert on Ted's signature, and that might be true for him, but, in general, a person's signature can vary quite a bit.
Here are five Gehrig signatures. They are all genuine. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...tz/gehrig7.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...tz/gehrig2.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...tz/gehrig5.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...tz/gehrig1.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...tz/gehrig3.jpg |
Question
As I have said many times before, I am not a real autograph collector. That being said, I have often wondered about this. For work, I sign 500 or more checks a week. My signature could differ on almost every check (especially if I am rushed).
My question to the autograph experts, is how do you get comfortable with a signature if there are many known exemplars? Thanks, Jeff |
