Damn In-Laws!!!

A seller on ebay lists 79 caramel cards including several super rare 1922 American Caramel E122s. the lot included a E122 Babe Ruth. The cards were glued to a dilapidated album but still included several hall of famers. the seller appeared to be a local consignment shop and had no idea whether the cards were reprints or original. Some of the cards had markings and a few were trimmed. The auction started yesterday and I immediately placed a bid. to my chagrin, I see my bid cancelled this morning and the listing ended. I immediately contact the seller and tell him I will pay him more than anyone. He tells me, sorry man but my "brother-in-law" confiscated the cards and you know, family comes first! I was bummed all day!! This was just too good to be true!

Here it was. I have a feeling someone besides their brother-in-law got it though.

If it makes you feel any better Jim the Ruth looked trimmed.

They also stated most were still glued. I have no idea how well E121's and E122's soak or if they would fall apart.

If you see something you like on ebay that is rare you had better contact the seller immediately and tell him:

"Hello. Please do not end this auction early to accept an off-line bid. If you do consider off-line bids, please let me know as I am VERY interested in making an offer."

That way you never have to feel like you were outsnookered by an aggressive buyer on ebay.
