Thanks to a fellow board member for selling me this Orange Background Wagner! Just the Blue one to go! Please see my Want List of E98s on the BST, and if you are in need of $ for the New Year's upcoming auctions, please consider selling me one of the ones that I need if you have one. Thanks for looking! Tim Kindler

Loved the Kalamazoo Bats earlier in the thread.

Arrived on New Year's Eve! Sorry, Line is from scanner???

His nickname is "bald"? Must have been a really good sport. I wonder if they called him that to his face? Looks kind of like Robert Duvall to me.

Thanks Chris...

Thanks, Chris. The Pickering didn't "make the cut" for me... I'm getting very picky.

Started the year with a few cheap beaters..Despite it's obvious flaws, I'm kinda excited about the WaJo.

tbob 01-03-2012 10:21 AM

Tim- Nice Wagner! As I recall the orange background Honus was the toughest of the 4 for me to find. Greens and blues are out there, red was tough but orange for this player was very hard to find.

I picked up this bat, a HOF sidewritten 1921 Bill (Wm) McKechnie Gamer. During bidding i began research, because at first it didnt make sense why McKechnie would have a gamer in 1921, as to he didnt start coaching Pittsburgh till 1923, well the Block Letter Lober, played in the AA (milwaukee) , and sure enough research showed Bill played that very same year in AA (Minneapolis) .....nice HOF gamer at a steal....

Tyler 01-03-2012 12:33 PM

I just recently decided to start up my Addie Joss collection, again. When I saw 'Skydash' on the flip, I knew I must have it. One of the most fascinating threads of all time, and now I own, and cherish, a small part of it...

I have been looking for a good price on this one for a while and happened to find one a couple weeks ago. Finally got it scanned yesterday.

Gotta love the "English" stats for Sisler.
I always thought he hit .420 in 1922, but they are right: 246/586 = .41979.

abothebear 01-03-2012 03:53 PM

the other weird thing about that card is, why is Babe Ruth catching and why is Joe Jackson on deck?

Thanks to Brian P for the heads up on this auction. Been wanting one for years and years without the $1,000+ price tag. While just "slightly" trimmed, it is a great placeholder. :) - Bill
