What is your favorite set from each decade?
What would be your favorite set of cards from each year maybe because of rarity, the players, or the design etc....
Mine: 2010s:none don't collect from 2000s:none don't collect from 1990s:1991 Donruss, love the design, rated rookies, and Donruss Elite 1980s:1986 Donruss, love the design, rated rookies 1970s:1972 Topps love the design 1960s:1963 Topps love the floating heads and Pete Rose rookie card 1950s:1956 topps just like 54 and 55 topps only better looking 1940s:1941 Playball love the color and the shadow 1930s:1934 Goudey tied with 1934-36 Diamond Stars gorgeous design and color 1920s:none don't collect 1910s: T205 just gorgeous 1900s:E107 love the rarities too bad I can't afford any 19th century:N162 Goodwin Champs beautiful cards |
19th Century: 1887 Gypsy Queen I have always loved them.
1900's: 1909 Rose Company Postcards Great design 1910's: 1916 Tango Eggs Got a friend that collects them 1920's: 1929 Kashin Publications Love the size and pitcures 1930's: 1934 Tarzan Bread Clyde Manion was my first pre war card. 1940's: 1949 Leaf Satchell Paige is one of my favorite cards. 1950's: 1952 Red Man like the colors. 1960's: 1967 Topps Birth year set. 1970's: 1978 RC Cola Cans Drank alot of soda as a kid. 1980's: 1989 Topps Talking Baseball Spent many hours listening to these. 1990's: 1990 Topps Tiffany The set that I broke into team sets and sold on ebay to get me back into the hobby. 2000's: 2001 Topps Archive New cards of old players. 2010's: 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Reminds me of the original. |

I was just thinking about this subject this week, trying to narrow down some sets by decade I may try to put together this coming year. *s are by those I won't be putting together but like the design.
1920s: W560 two-colors, because I have a couple. 1930s: Gold Medal Foods, my two favorite teams in a small affordable set. 1940s: *1948-49 Leaf graphically striking 1950s: I like checklist of the 1952 Red Man, but I like the post-52 design. 1960s: 1964 (and 62) Auravision, cool photos, and its a record! 1970s: 1978, birth year and hosts many '84 Tigers' RCs. 1980s: 1984 Fleer, my first baseball cards. I like the 1980 Topps design. |

1960's: 1963 Topps 1950's: 1956 Topps 1940's: 1940 Playball. Oddly, I don't much care for the 1941's which everyone else loves so much, but I adore this set. So far I'm about 25% through with it in PSA 6-7. 1930's: 1934 Goudey 1920's: 1926 Spalding Champions - out of my price range for the big cards, but I love the design and the photos.
