Felix Mendelsohn Babe Ruth SGC 70 on Ebay
Anyone here win this card? Is there any potential in this card? I was the underbidder and Im annoyed I didnt win this one.

hard to say
Hard to say but I think it went a little low. I would expect it to be 10k+ in a good auction, not ebay. Just my opinion.....

I agree with Leon
That is an exceptional condition Ruth for the issue Price was low, and the seller hurt himself by not having m101-6 in the title:mad: |
I thought it went a little high.
Or maybe the lot of 37 that sold in Legendary last year went really low. Or both. |
How does everyone feel about the date on the flip, couldn't it be listed just as 1920 since it couldn't have been 1917, 1918 or 1919 with the Yankees designation on the card? When a T206 can be pinned down to a specific year based on manufaturer or factory number, the flip shows 1910, 1911, etc......

So, I discount that sale of Legendary's and was more thinking of other sales I have seen. |
I didn't realize that any grading company took the time to place the correct year on the flip for a T206. I thought they used a generic year for all T206 cards. I guess I learned something new here.

Great card that the seller originally didn't realize what he had. He had originally mislabeled it as a Ruth Exhibit and was going to sell it starting at 0.01 with no reserve: Link. Cards like this are why people still scour ebay hoping for treasures.

Although this Ruth was at least in the range of prices I've seen for it, that price is still a bargain. The Yankee version is more common than the Red Sox for some reason, which may have had something to do with it, but I agree with another poster who noted that m101-6 in the title would have created much more interest. |
Was basing my pricing on these (agreed, the lot of 37 went insanely low)...
Obviously the Red Sox version is on another level in terms of rarity. http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...px?lotid=79969 http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...px?lotid=80935 http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/.../2007/371.html I guess with the high grade the price makes sense, but I still don't feel it was a steal by any means, but I personally hate paying grade premiums. |

Ruth Felix Mendelsohn
The card undersold by "at least" 2 - 3K, especially considering it is the highest graded copy. This is one of Ruth's first Yankee cards (along with the Headin Home series and some less desirable strip cards), and I strongly agree with Leon that a major auction house might have realized a much higher price - possibly in the 10K+ range. Congrats to whoever "stole" this awesome Babe Ruth collectible.

nice score for the seller nonetheless...who's used to selling $1-$2 items. as a bonus i think the winner will get the card delivered personally by the seller
|
very nice score, he was originally selling it as a possible reprint and an Exhibit before he got it graded.
