I thought this might be a fun thread!

Here are my two favorites of Johnny Vander Meer with kid fans:

The 1st one was taken in late April, 1941 with a young girl on top of the visitors dugout at Ebetts Field. I just picked this up today. I love it! :D

The 2nd photo I have posted before, but it's one of my all time fav's. Johnny Vander Meer shows the local kids from Midland Park, NJ the pitching form that allowed him to set baseball history by pitching back-to-back no-hitters. This photo was taken at his family home in NJ the day after he threw his 2nd consecutive no-no on June 15, 1938 at Ebetts.

I don't own this one, but it one of my all time favorite Gehrig photos. It was sold at auction in 2010. I didn't get to bid:(:(:(

I'm pretty sure the boy in the photo was Charles Conlon's nephew or something? To this day, I've still never seen an original. But no matter, I'm painting it anyway!!

Considering how incredibly good your last Matty was, I can only think this will be spectacular as well.
What color are you going to use for the kid's uniform collar, sleeve trim, and belt?

Hey Mark,

I'm not entirely sure what treatment the kid's jersey would get. I do know that this was taken in 1913, and Matty's uniform would have had a violet trim, so judging by the value of what the kid has on, I would imagine it's probably a deep blue or something. I have a feeling I'll just be doing some research on children's jersey's from that era to have a better idea...lord knows I can't wing it!!
