Show off your best card
I know there's over 45,000 active members here on Net54 so I really want to see what kind of high end cards people have on here. Sorry if this thread has been done before... I couldn't find one like this when I searched for it.
If you have a favorite and a best card you want to share go ahead. I'll start off with this. I'm probably one of the younger collectors on here, so I know 90 % of people will have something cooler, but it's my best and favorite card. Thanks to majordanby http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/a...51/youngt3.jpg |
Wow!!! That's an amazing looking 1..

Now my favorite item isn't a card, and I'm sure a good amount of people on this forum have one in better condition, but the 1859 Harper's woodcut of the Elysian Fields would have to be my favorite as of right now.. Or possibly the 1869 Harper's Weekly full issue with the Red Stockings woodcut.

Not the best in my whole collection, but my best T210

those members aren't real
WE have around 3000 registered members. Those others are fake ones that get registered by trolls writing programs to register fake id's with forums using our type of software. If we follow the 80/20 rule, where only 20% of the people that watch the forum are in fact registered, then the amount of folks checking this forum out is still quite a bit. Even just the registered number is quite a bit but we use the 80/20 rule on that number, and say that only about 600 participate...we still have quite a few. Hopefully some of those folks will show their favorite cards. I have too many faves but here is one I like with a blank back....

Mine isn't prewar, and it likely pales in comparison to most of your choices, but here's one of my best, and easily my favorite:

May or may not be my favorite card - but it's probably my best.

Started collecting '82. Saw a picture of this card in an issue of "Baseball Cards" in 1983.......(remember those:)))......I was 12 at the time and thought to myself "I will probably never even see a real one"......the dream/quest started.....the dream was realized in 2009 with many thanks to a forum member who decided to sell....

This is one of my better cards in terms of visual appeal. |

That Hugh Duffy is off the charts, always love seeing it. Beautiful 19th century imperial cabinet photo of HOFer Duffy, framed by a beautiful black mount with gold print.
This thread has been done somewhat recently . . . http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=137312 |

The card itself is not in the best of shape, but it is without a doubt the best card in my collection...

My interests are more weighted towards what I can actually afford, this is mostly post-war stuff. However, I was lucky enough to track down some earlier stuff in the early days of ebay when you could still find some deals. I'd say my "best" cards are probably not pre-war though, but here are a couple favorites:
The Turkey Red and Ramley Ruckers and the Cracker Jack Wheat. I wonder what mine would grade if that Young is a one??? http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...RedCabinet.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...ection/NAP.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a81...ction/ZACH.jpg |

I love my 51 Bowman Mantle and 52 Topps Mantle, as they were the cards I always wanted, but I am really digging my 52 Topps Mathews as it is tough to find centered even if it is a "1".

Not a card but...
Getting more into signed items/game used recently, so my favorite/best isn't a card but rather a team signed ball.
1955 Brooklyn Dodgers I love it not just because it is a 55 Dodger ball, but also because I can date it to the first month of the season. Koufax started the year on the DL and Tom Lasorda was brought up to fill his spot. Lasorda pitched fewer than 5 innings over the first month before Koufax came back and Lasorda was sent packing to Montreal. So, the presence of Lasorda dates this ball to that period, and the presence of Koufax means that he signed the ball before throwing a single pitch in a regular season pro game. I just love that! Plus, the only clubhouse is Duke Snider...Brooklyn was notorious in the late 40's through 1957 for having a clubhouse guy who would sign for many of the players...so a ball with just one clubhouse is pretty good! http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...55dodgers5.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...55dodgers4.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...55dodgers2.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...55dodgers3.jpg http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...55dodgers1.jpg Tom C |

This is probably my "best" card but not my favourite. http://i.imgur.com/1UndR.jpg |

I'm not sure how one defines best, but this is one of my favorites due to the great eye appeal. It's also one of the supplements that is infrequently seen.

Great Ruth P/C. It hurts me every time I see it that I let that one go. At least it went to someone who really loves it so that's a good thing. |
