Hi-
I recently acquired a small collection of House of David postcards and snapshots (see scans below). I would love to see other House of David memorabilia. Please post some of your items. Thanks, Alan Elefson aelefson@hotmail.com |
Some Snapshots

Hi-
Here are some small photos of House of David players. Alan |
Great stuff Alan...those RPPC's at the top have got to be very rare...I've not seen the group photo one before. Those snapshots are killer too. Congrats!
|
Isn't that Joe Louis on the team card with 1936 written on the front?
|
This baseball was signed in Colorado in the early 1930s at a House of David game. The original owner attended the game with her father and got Grover Cleveland Alexander to sign this baseball. Also on the ball is Olympian Babe Didrickson.

Thanks Dan! I really like the white background post cards too (I wish I had more than two of them). I will post more scans tomorrow (more rppcs and snapshots).
Adam, I thought that was Louis but I was not 100% positive. Thank you for pointing it out and Dan for confirming that! Packs, I saw you post that ball a month or two ago but I had no idea it was signed at a House of David game! That is really cool. Alan |
I saw that 1936 House of David photo this morning but did not recognize Joe Louis but the man to the left. Here's a photo of the 1946 Tacoma Casino Giants with Jimmy Claxton, the gentleman on the top row left. Who is this man? Please compare..
My apologies for not adding to the subject at hand http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/n...milb&fext=.jsp |
The guy does hold a resemblance to Claxton..it was not unusual for Claxton to play on barnstorming teams...he played for the Nebraska Indians in 1932-33. If it can be proven to be Claxton that postcard becomes even more special than it already is.
|
Perhaps I did not word that properly, the gentleman in both photos is not Jimmy Claxton, but the person with Joe Louis (in 1936) appears to be with Jimmy Claxton (in 1946). But we have veered far from subject sorry...

Ty, no worries at all! I wish I could help but the guy does not appear on any of my other House of David items, nor is there anything written on the postcard's back. I can provide a higher resolution scan via email if you want one.
Here are more items from the House of David group I acquired recently. I'd still like to see some other members' items! Alan |

Those are some fun items. I have always enjoyed reading about the ball House of David club. It looks like some of those pictures were taken here in Washington. This is my only related item.
