Please Help Identify Reach Baseball
4 Attachment(s)
Finally a find in an attic that is real....my father recently stumbled across this in my grandparents attic. Can anyone identify the year and approximate value because I don't know anything about vintage baseballs? It is in the box and still sealed. Supposedly there is a whole case of them up there. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks, Charles |
Looks like an OAL Harridge ball box, 1950's worth probably about $250 sealed assuming the ball is Near Mint in there too. SO if there is a whole box of (12) up there, you are looking at about $2000-$3000. Not a bad attic find!

It looks like a moth - or some other type of creature - has been doing a little nibbling on the box and wrapper. With that said the $250 per ball is a good estimate. If the other boxes are in better condition, they will get a higher price.
Also, if there is a original box that housed the 12 baseballs, that will also have some good value. Excellent find. |

I think this box was used in a larger era range than you might think...value could be at $250 per ball/box, but at the same time you could be looking at closer to $400 per as well, depending on whether they come from the earlier part of the era...If I were you I would contact Brandon of Historyofthebaseball. He will be able to tell you exactly what you need to know.

If there are 12 I'd open one up and see exactly which ball is in there.
|
Dont open any of them !!!! Talk to Brandon, he is the go to guy when it comes to baseballs.
|
I'd still open one up...I'd like to not only see which ball is in there, but also what the condition is.
|
Judging by the pictured box, I think that one has already been opened.

Thanks for the info everyone. It is still sealed with wrapper going all the way around intact. I don't think he would go through the trouble of opening it and carefully putting it back in.

Coaches Corner is interested in buying these if you want to sell.
