September Pickups
Picked this up from Sterling Sports Auctions. Might eventually spark me to go after the set...time will tell!

Nice card Rob!
Here's a tough 1923 Paulin's Candy I picked up...highest graded by PSA. Cecil Browne was a local hero in Manitoba, where these cards were issued. He was voted Manitoba's Athlete of the Century in 1970: |

Another 1923 Paulin's Candy Newsy Lalonde...key card of the set. Even though it only grades a 2, this one is pretty special as it was not redeemed. So no stamp on the reverse (or even worse the dreaded hole-punch redemption):

And this one is among only a handful of cards produced of great HOFer "Punch" Broadbent (only 5 cards were issued of him during his playing days). Punch is often credited as being one of hockey's first power forwards. His scoring accomplishments are pretty amazing:

Another oldie this month...a nice Champ's card of HOF player Jack Adams (who also would have been a HOFer as an exec if he wasn't already in as a player):

Blair, was "Jock" his nickname ?

Quote:
I wondered the same thing - I tried looking it up but never found any reference to "Jock". I'm assuming it was a typo/mistake. It is spelled as "Jock" on both the front and back of this card. It looks like PSA more often types the flip for this card as Jack, but the odd time as Jock - as the card appears. On his other 3 cards (both Pattersons and the '36 WWG) his name is spelled as Jack.
