Which One Is The Keeper? (Signed T206 Wheat)
I recently became the lucky owner of Jeff Morey's old signed T206 Wheat, which Morey had consigned to Mastro about a decade ago. It is extremely clean. But, it lacks the color, character, and double signature that my first signed T206 Wheat has.
I am not planning on parting with either one any time soon, but in the event I wind up selling/trading one off in a future transaction, which one would you recommend that I hold on to and why? I used to think the answer was easy, based on card condition. But, I am no longer so sure... Also, if you have any doubles about which you are conflicted, please post them here. <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/N3p_7e6yBOP4PTNtSjQqDTiJm_Z5QsNdec5_I7WHZRE?feat=e mbedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-hyWgCvwrVkk/TlGEyBCy0EI/AAAAAAAAJXY/xGdpZZvb51g/s800/Wheat_SGC_40.jpg" height="800" width="488" /></a> -vs- <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Dfp_VbnYzfre18AQ9yY9xziJm_Z5QsNdec5_I7WHZRE?feat=e mbedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zCEQKm486Jw/Rxk7T3tTkFI/AAAAAAAAB_E/YFK5tV4DFjA/s800/Wheat%252520Auto%252520SGC%252520A.JPG" height="643" width="800" /></a> |
I like the second if I collect autos, just a much stronger sig.

Wheat sig
Paul,
I would def take #2 the diamond cut: it has 2 sigs stronger front / back/ unique card with the odd miscut...i feel the meduim is secondary to the subject!!;) |
I think the initial plan of keeping both is the best idea. They both have their own admirable qualities and they are quite different.

I'd keep the first one, despite the stronger sigs on the second card. The back sig on the 2nd card is overshadowed by the damage.
|
I would keep the 1st

2nd. if ur an auto collector then the 1st sig sucks.
|
For me, the second one, due to two sigs and stronger. But, if card condition is critical, choose number one, In fact, they r both GREAT. ha;)
|
Keep the second sig. You should probably give the first one to a fine, upstanding citizen who would appreciate it.:)
|
Boy this is a tough choice, but knowing your interest is mainly sig's you have to go with #2. Much bolder and signed twice.....
|
Paul, I think of you as a signed card autograph collector
Number two is a nicer example of the signature, and while that card has issues, the color is nicer and the front sig is much better. #2.

Dump Both of em!
A sig/autograph is the "kiss of death" for me. Might as well have a card with a hole in it or paper loss. If you like autos collect them searate on a ball or indexcard or what ever, to place ink on a card detroys it . But to me an autographed card is ruined. Just MHO. dave

I do love me some beaters. I would go with the second as it has character, strong double signature & more detailed colour.
Both very nice cards! |
n oquestion the first card. the signature is legible enough and the card is really nice.
|
the first one is obviously in much nicer shape, but the registration looks a little funky. that alone makes me lean towards the 2nd one. keep 'em both, but if its in an auto collection, #2 would be the long-term keeper.
nice cards Paul! |
# 2

I guess it depends on what's more important to you...in this case the autograph on the card vs the card with the autograph...then I'd keep the 2nd one with a much nicer signature.

Which one do you keep? The answer is yes. :) Both are great, but if I had to pick one, I like the first one better from the clarity of the sig and overall eye appeal.
