Back from the National with a few pick ups
Hi all,
I just got home from the National. As always, the show was huge and as always, hockey was not represented very well. There was a fair amount of newer cards and a little vintage that had some really strong prices on the stickers. I did manage to pick up one 51 Parkhurst for my set. I have added one more HOF RC in pretty good condition (Marcel Pronovost SGC 84) I also picked up a couple C56 Imperial Tobacco rookie cards of some pretty solid HOFers (Frank Patrick and Art Ross). I am fairly confident that I overpaid for these cards, but I guess I had some money burning a hole in my pocket! I guess if I am going to overpay, I could do much worse than getting an Art Ross Rookie. Regardless, I had a great time and it was nice to meet a lot of Net54ers in person. It was definitely worth going and now to plan my "Hockey National" in Toronto in November! http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/a.../071211005.jpg |
Nice cards Bill. I know what you mean about the lack of Hockey at the national. I managed to pick up a few cards from Len (Platnium Sports) who is really the only Hockey dealer that attends.
Picked up a really nice 58-59 Topps #1 Armstrong to finish my Bruins subset and a nice 1960-61 Topps #66 (last card) Stasiuk to finish that Bruins subset. |
Nice pickups!

Do you have a want list for the set?

Thanks Michael! Congrats on the Bruins pick ups!
Thanks Eric! Kyle - If you click on "scans" at the bottom of my post, you will see what I have in the set with the exception of the card I show in this post. I only have 23 so far. Thanks! |

Hi Bill,
Nice chatting with you at the Nat! (Sorry I did not get to meet Michael there.) I picked up 2 hockey items at the National that I'm quite pleased with: a 1923-24 Paulin's Candy card of HOFer "Newsy" Lalonde, and a 1937-38 Type I photo of HOFer "Hap" Day in his final full season as a player (and his only season with the Americans). I think the scale is messed up on my scans...the Hap Day photo is roughly 11" x 14"...: |
Very nice Blair!! Thanks for sharing!!
