Backs of 1934 Goudey's?????
Is it normal for the backs of these cards to vary on the darkness of the cards? Some seem a light brown and others appear to be much lighter.
Also, I have seen a couple times when the color on the front of the card appears on the back. Is this normal? Both of these questions are in regard to cards that are already in PSA holders. Maybe I already answered my own questions, but I just wanted to make sure. I am fairly new to the pre-war cards so I have some questions. I musr admit, I think I am addicted to them. Thanks for your responses. |
Yes, my guess is the early printing runs have very dark ink and the further down the line the lighter the ink. Also any long periods exposed to any light would fade the cards quite a bit. Also the higher numbers seem to have a lighter green in many cases. Heavy ink will show through front to back when held up but when flat you won't see it, those are the nice ones with really rich colors ! Great set !!

The high number cards (#73 - #96) are printed on a different paper. The backs on the these cards are much darker than the low numbers (#1-#72) as seen below.
